It is needless to mention that we all feel proud of our gallant Engineering Profession. It gives us pride to be associated with the Qatar Overseas Chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India). You all are aware that The Institution of Engineers (India), the largest professional body of the world, with fifteen engineering discipline divisions and more than 600000 members under its umbrella has been promoting general advancement in engineering and technology since 1920 and has been administering the professional activities through its 85 State/Local Centres in India and 6 Chapters Overseas. Since its establishment in 1991 as one of the Overseas Chapters of IEI, Qatar Chapter has grown to a formidable stature and has assumed the distinction as the most active and largest professional body in Qatar. Apart from carrying out various professional activities in Qatar for continuous professional development such as Seminars, Workshops, publication of Technical Souvenir etc, Qatar Chapter also provides the opportunity of higher education to the aspiring candidates by conducting AMIE examinations in thirteen engineering disciplines which are equivalent to the Bachelor degree in engineering and is recognized by the Government of India and in most of the advanced countries of the world. Recently Qatar Chapter has earned the distinction as the only overseas Chapter of IEI for conducting Professional Engineering Examination. Now engineers in Qatar and from the neighboring countries can avail of this unique opportunity. It is worthy to mention that PE has become a hot topic among the engineers after the establishment of Engineers’ Mobility Forum, a world body for the free movement of Professional Engineers (PE) across the globe. Further, Qatar Chapter provides service to the Engineers to become corporate members of IEI. Qatar Chapter also provides service for Technician/Senior Technician memberships for AMIE examinations. All these memberships and examinations are open to all nationalities with equal rights and privileges. |

The present committee has taken over charge in the month of February 2008 for the two years term. The present committee will try its best to take this Chapter to a far greater height. I invite engineers from all nationalities to join IEI – Qatar Chapter and receive the best professional recognition and services. |
